The Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) is a large duck native to Mexico, Central, and South America. Enjoy. The LARIO is a better ride: wider, more waysides, better plantings. The flowers of Indian paintbrush are edible, and were consumed in moderation by various Native American tribes as a condiment with other fresh greens. The American kestrel (Falco sparverius), sometimes colloquially known as the sparrow hawk, is a small falcon, and the only kestrel found in the Americas. Even venomous serpents, including small rattlesnakes, are readily consumed. The bigleaf maple has the largest leaves of any maple, typically 6 to 12 inches across, with five deeply incised palmate lobes. It has large, pinnately compound leaves with 11-19 lanceolate leaflets with toothed margins and no hair in the vein angles. Pops in and off the San Gabriel river paved path. They are flavorful, although they have almost no aroma.

Corvus brachyrhynchos, American crow, is a large passerine bird species of the family Corvidae. Green sunfish can be caught with live bait such as nightcrawlers, waxworms, and mealworms. Black sage has a dark appearance, especially during drought.

The berries provided food for local Native American tribes, such as the Chumash, Tongva, and Tataviam. I ride this trail every week and must say it's one of the best. The American crow is one of only a few species of bird that has been observed modifying and using tools to obtain food.
